History of the Department of Statistics

The Department of Statistics at Keshav Memorial Institute of Commerce and Sciences has been at the forefront of delivering high-quality education in the field of statistics. Established with a vision to enhance statistical literacy and analytical skills, the department has continually evolved to meet the changing needs of its students and the broader academic community.

In 2019, the department marked a significant milestone by introducing a comprehensive Statistics course at the postgraduate level (M.Sc. Statistics). This course was designed to provide students with a robust foundation in statistical methods, theories, and applications, preparing them for advanced roles in research, industry, and academia. The introduction of this program underscored the institute’s commitment to advancing knowledge and equipping students with essential skills in an increasingly data-driven world.

Building on the success of the Statistics course, the department expanded its offerings in 2023 with the launch of a New postgraduate course in Applied Statistics.(M.Sc. Applied Statistics). This course was developed to address the growing demand for specialized statistical expertise in various practical domains. It focuses on applying statistical techniques to solve real-world problems, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The introduction of Applied Statistics reflects the department’s dedication to staying current with industry trends and enhancing the employability of its graduates.
