Admission Procedure for PG Courses

Issue of Notifications: The Directorate of Admissions issues notification for entrance (CPGET- Common Post Graduate Entrance Tests) and admission into various P.G. courses, generally, during the first week of April/May/June every year.

Eligibility for Entrance: Passed UG course from a reputed University. The candidate must have studied the subject at UG level, if they opt to study the same subject in PG course.

Entrance Examinations: A State level Common Post Graduate Entrance Tests (CPGET) are conducted by Osmania University for admissions into various PG Courses, in the first / second week of June, the test consists of MCQs for 100 marks, and after evaluation, it decides the cutoff marks for qualifying the entrance and then the University declares the results along with a rank wise merit list.

Counseling: The counseling process, in general, commences during the last week of June / first week of July every year.

The procedure consists of the following steps:

  • Entering the personal details and qualifying exam details
  • Remitting the Registration fee by using credit card/debit card/net banking
  • Filling in the Application Form
  • Uploading the required certificates and photo
  • Verifying the Application Form
  • Taking a printout of the Application Form
  • Submitting the Application Form to University.
  • University will give an Admit card to the students after paying the fees, which has to be submitted in the college where the seat has got confirmed.

Online Counseling:

Admissions to P.G. courses offered by various University constituent and affiliated colleges will be made through a centralized online counseling process. Online counseling is conducted in 3 phases so that the students can exercise their preference of choice of courses in various colleges. They can even have sliding option in 2nd and 3rd phases. If any seats are vacant after completion of all 3 phases of admission process, then they can be filled up at the last through Spot admission conducted by the respective college upon the notification provided from the University. 20% Management seats are filled by the college management upon the notification provided from the University at the beginning of Counseling. Both Management and Spot Admission seats allotment are sent to OU at the last.

Approval of Admitted Candidates: OU verifies the eligibility and approves the list of admitted candidates into various PG courses offered by all private affiliating institutions of the Osmania University, including minority institutions.

  • Reporting at the College and Verification of Certificates:
  • She/he should report at the allotted College with the following certificates
  • The printout of the Application Form
  • Student should submit Admit card given from OU
  • A Certificate to prove the date of birth
  • Transfer Certificate from the Institute last attended
  • Marks Memo of the UG Qualified Examination
  • Other eligibility certificates, like Caste Certificate, Income Certificate, Migration Certificate (if applicable)
  • Any other documents required to be produced to the College
  • Candidates who do not take admission on the prescribed dates will lose his/her claim for admission.
  • Prescribed fee has to be paid at the time of admission.
  • Any other item not specifically mentioned in this bulletin will be decided by Universities and Government
