Profile

The college Management has observed that student community was opting for Statistics as a subject across various colleges of twin cities. Looking to start new courses the management convinced that the M.S.Cs. combination would add new dimension to the science course with statistics. Thus the Management of Keshav Memorial Institute of Commerce and Sciences has started M.S.Cs. course with the combination as statistics resulting the birth of Department of Statistics in the college. Hence The Department of Statistics was established in the year 1998-1999 with a vision of promoting the study of statistics among students.

The Department consists of faculty who are research oriented, intelligent and outspoken. The department believes in the idea that the vibrant academic environment is nurtured by highly motivated faculty, an opportunity to pursue research in front line areas of basic statistics-viz, Probability, Statistical inference as well as inter disciplinary areas of science where multivariate data analysis is required to be handled by the aid of Computers. The Department is known for its well-equipped Computer lab with MS-Excel and Tora Software. The ambition of the Department of Statistics is to provide exciting academic learning facilities not only at Under graduate level but also at Post graduate/Ph.D. levels through dedicated teaching, ideas to create a stimulating class room environment and attractive Social atmospheres through choice based credit system provided by Osmania University followed by Keshav Memorial Institute of Commerce and Sciences.

The Department of Statistics has been upgraded recently from under graduate level to post graduate level offering the M.Sc. Statistics course there by became one of the affiliated college under Osmania University to offer statistics from the academic year 2019-2020.

The department internally celebrates birthday of Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, Father of Statistics on June 29th of every year and conducts several innovative programs as departmental activities.
